Dance and Desire — a round up!

Dance and Desire  — a round up…

So much has happened in my world over the winter and spring… so much! It has been an exceptionally incredible, but also a hard few months, hard with a barrage of work overload and projects being completed and my back yard being torn up to build my new little house, to name a few. Fantastic things as well…a new CD release, and the welcome brimming-with-pride feelings over many of my new certified dancers around the world, both online and in person. And not without the exciting intensity and clarity for things to come! Oh my…

So I am taking the time to reflect on it all, and write about it, and share it over the next few days!

Building on the dream and vision. Stating my desires, deeply.

GCDC at Tribal Fest and the California, Teacher Training, and a Global Union

A truly magnificent week, for my global dancers to arrive in one spot—from Australia, New Zealand, Italy, the US, and Scotland—after rehearsing by video across the seas, for our performance at this festival in Sepastopol. And this time with the Caravan Project band to play and the excitement of their new CD, The Walk To Nowhere, which is, IMHO, a brilliant tribal music CD. (Go here to read about it)

We had new costumes that looked spectacular, and we were primed. Some of my dancers had not even met each other in person, much less perform on stage together. How freaking awesome is that, they can could come together with love and skill and do this  amazing dance together with confidence and passion? This dance is truly global and accessible to all!

How proud was I, to see my “daughters, students, partners” pull out all their stops to fly half way around the globe and join me for this experience? To embody the tribal spirit, the goddess dancers, the laugh makers, the soul connecters—these women have made this commitment to themselves, to me, to this Gypsy Caravan Tribal Bellydance ® styling.

THE LOVE OF THE DANCE, THE LOVE OF THE CONNECTION, THE SISTERHOOD,

THE PLACE ON STAGE TO SHARE THE TRIBAL LOVE.

The unfortunate thing was I got incredibly ill with a fever and cold as soon as I arrived, I would say it was weeks of stress and overwork besides just catching the bug, and it did not make for a happy girl.

Here I was, with two workshops to teach at the festival, the GCDC performance!

And if that wasn’t enough, the emotional HUGE reunion performance with my teacher, Carolena, and dance sisters Jill and Kajira, and myself—dubbed the Fab Four, because we are the original four who have been instrumental in developing the tribal styling that is now global, a bit of history in the making. No stress there, right?

The band played superbly and their music was received with much enthusiasm and love. My man, Jeff, had an amazing time playing for all the different dancers too, and along with Ruben and Lyndsey, they were joined by long time friend and musical collaborator Jeremiah Soto on stage. Could it get any better?

Standing ovations and cheers and tears. Glowing from the soul out.To be recognized and acknowledged is prideful yet humbling. I knew it would be a big moment. Intense, a celebration. For me, for all of us, for the audience too. And reuniting with former dance and soulmate Jill Parker was also tearful and beautiful.

And that all went incredible, regardless of a fever and losing my voice. I still had a blast. Loved my workshops at the fest. Plus all of us had rented two big gorgeous houses on one piece of property with an outdoor kitchen and pizza oven and enjoyed hanging out together for those days. Besides there was the fest to check out, a photo shoot to have, a chance to watch other performances, shop, and of course, rehearse.

You can see the performances here…

If that wasn’t enough,

these dancers are on their paths to up their own dance work/life/passion, so we added in my two of my Certification courses,

GYPSY CARAVAN TRIBAL BELLYDANCE ® TEACHER TRAINING LEVEL FOUR,

TT4 grads, 5:2105

AND MASTER TEACHER TRAINING LEVEL TWO

(which actually took place after the festival when we stayed in San Francisco for a few extra days!). Whoa…

TO LIVE FROM THE HEART, TO FOLLOW ONE’S DREAMS AND DESIRES, TO ACCOMPLISH TASKS OF BOTH BUSINESS AND SOUL GOALS. THESE DANCERS ARE DOING IT UP SOOOO RIGHT!

What can I say, but it has given me great pleasure to find a meaningful and successful way to pass on this dance, this style, this lifestyle that is all encompassing and all consuming! My certification programs—both Collective Soul and Teacher Training— have been my purpose and focus these last few years, as I have shifted in my own dance dreams. And these dancers are the forerunners in taking the dance to a new level around the globe. So not only studying and striving to dance with me in my GCDC troupe of 25 years, but to be able to take it home and spread the love of this dance and all that it brings, with skill and dedication and perseverence and above all else, the joy and connection the dance brings to each of us.

So here we are, together, for these super packed and intense days of the festival but extra hours each day to dance and study for the certification finale! And they did it with flying colors, or maybe I should say swirling skirts and flying wings!

They are the first to have achieved both of these levels—Teacher Training Level Four ( I have six levels!), and Master Teacher Level Two. Could I possibly glow with any more pride and heart swelling love? They worked so hard to get to these levels! And that also means they are bringing this dance to you, around the globe, with classes and workshops and performances too. So they can pass it on too, with all the skill and knowledge and heart and soul, as the generations of dancers continue to expand and grow.

Now is the time for you may want to bring them to you!

For workshops, and the amazing intensive certification courses of GCTB Collective Soul. I continue to do these online, and they bring them to you in person. Experiences not to be missed….(email dance@gypsycaravan.us for info!)

Our dance is about making magic and communion, with pure joy, fun, and again, it comes full circle around the lifestyle of soulful connection, body health and fitness, complete wellness and awareness, community consciousness, spiritual wellbeing, and so much more, on all levels.
