HONORING THE FEMININE ESSENCE:

GCTB MOVES & THE FOUR FEMALE ARCHETYPES

WITH CINZIA DI CIOCCIO AND LIVE DRUMMING BY ASIF QU

There are four main female archetypes that we, as women, cycle through during our lives: Maiden, Mother, Wild Woman & Wise Woman. Each archetype corresponds to a different season, a different phase of the moon, a different element, and a different moment of our daily life and menstrual cycle.

We have a deep connection to these archetypes because we are cyclic beings: these Archetypes are always present within us, we embody and express each archetype. Sometimes we can cycle through all four archetypes in one day, or one week or through each menstrual or lunar cycle, or the four seasons of the year.

As dancers we have a deeper connection to these Archetypes, because the body is our expressive tool and the body is the sacred temple of the feminine essence.

In this workshop we will use GC steps to embody each one of the four Archetypes, honoring the feminine essence and honoring ourselves as women, sisters and powerful creative beings. Intermediate Level. For each archetype we will use one or two rhythms that will be introduced and broken down by Asif, drummer and teacher. For this workshop you will need some knowledge of GC vocabulary of movements and combos. We will use a veil as a prop in some of the combos, so please have one ready. Also, there will be

some floorwork, so you may need to use some knee pads. Enjoy!
